Orientation Overview - Spring 2022

NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION EXPERIENCES – WHAT TO EXPECT

New Student Orientation will continue to prepare students for success by providing information and access to UC Merced resources during this unique time, ensuring that the experience is technologically and physically accessible.

This Spring New Student Orientation will consist of a combination of online and in-person experiences for both students and parents, families and loves ones.

Spring New Student Orientation will consist of the following:

1. Pre-orientation

The online pre-orientation module helps you prepare for your orientation. The online pre-orientation is approximately a one-hour experience and will provide you with information and resources to help you feel ready. This element of your orientation experience will become available by January 5th and should be completed before your in person orientation happening on January 14th.

2. Orientation Day

At Orientation Day, students and families will hear from current students and staff about what it means to be a successful Bobcat and receive valuable insight on how to make a smooth transition to UC Merced. The Orientation Day Experience is a full day event and includes presentations for both students and family, supporters, or loved ones.

Mark your calendars and plan for your Orientation Day Experience as follows: Friday, January 14th, 2022.

3. Webinars

Learn about what it’s like to be a Bobcat through a series of three live online webinars available on the Orientation Website.

  • Thursday, January 6th, Topic 1 - Financing Your University Education
  • Monday, January 10th, Topic 2 - Learning at UC Merced
  • Wednesday, January 12th, Topic 3 - Campus Life

4. Information Fair

An Information Fair will be hosted the day of your in person orientation experience in January 14, 2022 where students will have the opportunity to connect with the campus community. This Information Fair will feature various campus departments and student clubs and organizations.
