Orientation Policies

Orientation Policies:

  • Orientation at UC Merced consists of two required orientation experiences.  Students register for both experiences at orientation.ucmerced.edu. The online orientation experience is designed to be the student’s first orientation experience while their second experience will be an in-person orientation. Students must register and commit to paying all orientation fees to gain access and complete online and in-person experiences.  Orientation fees will be collected in January (Jan 12, 2022) along with other university bills. Students may use financial aid to pay these fees if they have financial aid available.
  • Once a student registers for orientation at orientation.ucmerced.edu, they will receive a confirmation email with details regarding their orientation experience.
  • The single orientation fee placed on the first university bill includes both online and in-person experiences.  Since these experiences are designed to work together, there are no separate fee options for either program. Our student fee is $110 and the parent/guest fee is $100.
  • Students should make every effort to attend orientation.  If circumstances prevent a student from attending they will need to reach out to our orientation team at orientation@ucmerced.edu.

Registration Priority Deadline - January 3, 2022

A $5 late fee will be charged for any reservations or changes made after the January 3rd deadline.

Last day to make ANY changes: Friday, January 7th by 4:30 PM

You may change your registration online up to one week prior to your orientation date. In addition, a $20 administration fee will be assessed for any registration changes AFTER the one week deadline has passed (For example, adding a guest past the one week deadline). All registration changes are based on availability.

Please note: Admissions and Orientation are two separate offices with different deadlines and functions. It is the student's reponsiblity to communicate with the Orientation office if their admission decision changes and they will no longer be able to attend UC Merced. It is the student's responsbility to cancel their Orientation date by the two week deadline via the orientation website in order to not be charged any Orientation fees. After the two week deadline, students will be responsible for paying their Orientation fees.
