Program for Students
The New Student Orientation program includes a variety of activities that are meant to help you successfully transition to the University and prepare you for an exciting first semester. Orientation is a great opportunity to meet students, staff, and faculty, find out what it takes to be a successful student, and learn about helpful campus resources. The one-day session starts at 8:00 and continues to 5:00 pm. Please plan to stay for the entire time. A continental breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided throughout the day. At Orientation you can:
- Receive Academic Advising and get registered for spring courses*
- Go on a campus tour
- Learn tips that will help you achieve academic success at UC Merced
- Get information about helpful campus resources
- Meet professors and learn about their teaching/research interests
- Hear from current students about campus life
- Make new friends
- Visit the Bookstore to purchase UC Merced gear
- Get your individual questions answered
- Have your Photo ID taken for your CatCard
*Your transcripts, test scores, and other required academic documents must be received in Admissions by January 6, 2010 to register for courses during your session.
